In the race of life, it is so easy to lose heart when there is an obstacle in our way. Hebrews 12: 1b-2 reminds us of the true finish line, “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on
Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
At Loekie van Wyk Technical School, we want to help learners maintain this perspective and overcome obstacles that prevent them from reaching their full potential. We will do this with a learning plan that focuses on the child's individual interests and aptitude to maximise employability after school.
We strive for excellent educational standards, character building and leadership, built on the Christian values of love and respect for all people. We know that the race is not only an earthly one and therefore we trust the greatest Teacher in every step we take.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to restore self-worth and build personal character through motivational sessions and opportunities for personal growth and development. The focus will be on the learner’s identity in Christ, personal healing, good decision-making, the family structure, their role as a father or mother one day, their purpose and calling in life, money management, work ethics, etc., which are also targeted in the adapted Life Orientation curriculum. We strive to help train a confident new generation of entrepreneurs, influencers and leaders who will take responsibility for their own futures and that of their children.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
The success of a project of this magnitude depends on donor funding as well as community involvement. We need support in the form of prayer, expertise, materials, equipment, professional services, labour, and so the list goes on.
Apart from physical materials and expertise to build the school, we also want learners to have opportunities for job-shadowing, on-the-job training and to continue further studies with the help of bursaries. We believe local businesses, large and small, can play a major role in making these dreams a reality.
